Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association Brings Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic and Golf Classic to Miami

Event to feature Mike Lowell, Jorge Posada and other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Local youth will have an opportunity to play with their big league heroes at the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth baseball clinic on Saturday, February 7th, 2015. The free baseball clinic features Major League Baseball players who will teach baseball skills, drills and life lessons for approximately 200 local youth ages 6 – 16.

The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association and Baptist Hospital of Miami will also host a celebrity golf tournament and gala featuring Hall of Famers, former MLB All-Stars, World Series champions and other alumni players. The golf tournament will take place on Friday, February 6th with the “Once Upon a Time” gala on Saturday, February 7th. Proceeds from this event will benefit Baptist Hospital of Miami.

Alumni players attending* the event include 2007 World Series MVP Mike Lowell, five-time All Star Jorge Posada and Hall of Famer Andre Dawson, as well as current MLB players Yonder Alonso, Jon Jay and Michael Morse. Also attending the event are Juan Alvarez, Rick Ankiel, Jose Cruz Jr., Bucky Dent, Orestes Destrade, Jorge Fabregas, Gus Gandarillas, Bill Gullickson, Tyler Green, Lenny Harris, Livan Hernandez, Steve Hertz, Bill Hurst, Tommy Hutton, Skip Lockwood, George Lombard, Jim Lyttle, Eli Marrero, Dennis Martinez, Jeff Nelson, Orlando Palmeiro, Carl Pavano, Brad Pennington, Richie Scheinblum, Tom Shopay, Heathcliff Slocumb, John Stearns and Tanyon Sturtze.

The tournament will take place on Friday, February 6th at Trump National Doral Miami, starting with registration at 11:00 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:15 p.m. located at 4400 Northwest 87th Avenue, Miami, FL 33178.

The clinic will take place on Saturday, February 7th at Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins, located at 501 Marlins Way, Miami, FL 33125. The clinic will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The morning will conclude with an autograph session for children in attendance. To register for this clinic, please visit www.baseballalumni.com.
