Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association Brings Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic and Golf Classic to Miami

Event to feature Mike Lowell, Jorge Posada and more than 50 other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Local youth will have an opportunity to play with their big league heroes at the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth baseball clinic on Saturday, February 13th, 2016. The free baseball clinic features Major League Baseball players who will teach baseball skills, drills and life lessons for approximately 200 local youth ages 6 – 16.

The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will also host a celebrity golf tournament featuring former MLB All-Stars, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award winners, World Series champions and other alumni players. The golf tournament will take place on Friday, February 12th. Proceeds from this event will benefit South Miami Hospital’s Child Development Center.

The event is hosted by 2007 World Series MVP Mike Lowell and five-time All Star Jorge Posada and will have current players Francisco Cervelli and Jon Jay in attendance. Alumni players attending* are Juan Alvarez, Rick Ankiel, Fernando Arroyo, Stan Bahnsen, Mike Bielecki, Greg Blosser, Ricky Bones, Curt Brown, Chris Bushing, Mike Devereaux, Rich Folkers, Steve Foucault, Bobby Floyd, Cliff Floyd, Gus Gandarillas, Bill Gullickson, Ozzie Guillen, Lenny Harris, Livan Hernandez, Orlando Hernandez, Steve Hertz, Tom Hume, Bill Hurst, Tommy Hutton, Curt Leskanic, Jim Lewis, Skip Lockwood, George Lombard, Mickey Lopez, Mike Loynd, Jim Lyttle, Eli Marrero, Dennis Martinez, Andy McGaffigan, Jason Michaels, Cholly Naranjo, Jeff Nelson, Tom Niedenfuer, Placido Polanco, Brad Pennington, Eduardo Perez, Scott Proctor, Desi Relaford, Steve Rosenberg, Steve Schmoll, Tom Shopay, Heathcliff Slocumb, John Stearns, John Stephens, Tanyon Sturtze and Scott Winchester. These players combine for 491 seasons, 28,515 games, 16,450 hits, 7,717 RBI, 29 All-Star appearances and 24 World Series championships in Major League Baseball.

The tournament will take place on Friday, February 12th at Trump National Doral Miami, starting with registration at 11:00 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. on the Red Tiger Course located at 4400 Northwest 87th Avenue, Miami, FL 33178.

The clinic, hosted by St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay, will take place on Saturday, February 13th at Theodore Gibson Park, located at 401 NW 12th St., Miami, FL 33128. The clinic will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills.
