Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association Brings Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic Series to Springfield, IL

Free youth baseball clinic to feature Brian Boehringer, Jim Mecir and other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Local youth will have an opportunity to play with their big league heroes at the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth baseball clinic series on Saturday, July 29th, 2017. In conjunction with the Hanover Insurance Group, the free clinic features former Major League Baseball players who will teach baseball skills, drills and life lessons for approximately 200 local youth.

 

Players attending* include 1996 New York Yankees World Series champions and teammates Brian Boehringer, and Jim Mecir, four-time Reliever of the Year Award winner and seven-time All-Star Lee Smith, 1982 St. Louis Cardinals World Series champion Glenn Brummer and 1984 Detroit Tigers World Series champion Darrell Evans, as well as Jason Anderson, Wes Chamberlain, Neil Fiala, Pat Perry, and Eric Weaver. These 10 players combine for 84 seasons, 5,353 games and nine All-Star appearances in Major League Baseball.

 

The clinic will take place at Robin Roberts Stadium at Lanphier Park, running from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., located at 1415 North Grand Avenue East, Springfield, IL 62702. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the morning will conclude with an autograph session and baseball giveaways for children in attendance.
