Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association Brings Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic Series to Springfield, IL
Colorado Springs, Colo. – Local youth will have an opportunity to play with their big league heroes at the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth baseball clinic series on Saturday, July 28th, 2018. In conjunction with Hanover Insurance, the free clinic features former Major League Baseball players who will teach baseball skills, drills and life lessons for approximately 200 local youth.
Players attending* include two-time American League Cy Young Award winner, 1985 Kansas City Royals World Series champion and World Series MVP Bret Saberhagen and three-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove Award winner Andy Van Slyke, as well as Jason Anderson, Brian Boehringer, Glenn Brummer, Neil Fiala, Justin Knoedler, Tom Lawless and Eric Weaver. These nine players combine for 62 seasons, 167 homeruns and 3,017 games in Major League Baseball.
The clinic will take place at Robin Roberts Stadium at Lanphier Park, running from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., located at 1415 North Grand Avenue East, Springfield, IL 62702. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the morning will conclude with an autograph session and baseball giveaways for children in attendance.
