Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association Brings Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic Series to Altamonte Springs, FL

Free youth baseball clinic to feature Dave LaPoint, Felipe Lopez and other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Local youth will have an opportunity to play with their big league heroes at the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth baseball clinic series on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. In conjunction with the Weeks Brothers Foundation, the free clinic features former Major League Baseball players who will teach baseball skills, drills and life lessons for approximately 200 local youth.

Six-year MLB second baseman Jemile Weeks and 11-year All-Star utility player Rickie Weeks began the Weeks Brothers Foundation to use youth sports and education to provide professional excellence to underserved youth in the Greater Orlando area. Players attending* include 1982 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Champion Dave LaPoint, and All-Star and 2005 National League Silver Slugger Award winner Felipe Lopez as well as Orestes Destrade, Brandon Hicks, Jason Johnson, John Lannan and Jim Lewis. These nine players combine for 74 seasons, 2,759 hits and 3,845 games in Major League Baseball.

The clinic will take place at Eastmonte Park, running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., located at 830 Magnolia Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the morning will conclude with an autograph session and baseball giveaways for children in attendance.
