About Us

The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) was formed in 1982 in order to promote the game of baseball, raise money for charity, inspire and educate youth through positive sport images and protect the dignity of the game through former players. A nonprofit organization, the MLBPAA establishes a place where a player's drive for excellence and achievement on the field can continue long after they take their last steps off the professional diamond.

One player from each MLB team wins respected honor voted on by Alumni playersWHO: Seattle Mariners left fielder Raul Ibanez winner of Heart and Hustle Award. Ibanez also won the Heart and Hustle Award in 2006 and 2007 for the Mariners. The award is being presented by Alumni Major Leaguer Edgar Martinez, a Mariners staple who played in Seattle for the entirety of his 18 year career. Martinez was a seven time All-Star, five time Silver Slugger and was inducted to the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2007.
