Manufacturing Technologies Association expands Software & Design Solutions Zone at MACH 2014
Delcam, Vero and Tebis amongst confirmed exhibitors, reflecting the importance of software-driven innovation in design and manufacturing technologies
London, UK, 13th March 2014 – The Manufacturing Technology Association (MTA) has announced that it has expanded its dedicated Software and Design Solutions Zone at MACH 2014 to meet demand from major software and design companies keen to exhibit at the UK’s premier engineering and manufacturing technologies exhibition.
Much of the innovation seen today is around advanced manufacturing technology and software-driven processes rather than hardware. With the design and digital prototyping done on the computer in the office, programs can be downloaded direct to machine tools, and the manufacturing process controlled and refined remotely. Technologies driving major advances include: computer-aided design (CAD) for developing designs; computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) for translating CAD information for production; as well as additive manufacturing, whereby high powered lasers are employed to fuse fine powders into 3D objects, direct from 3D CAD data.
“Software is playing an increasingly important role in manufacturing and new solutions are enabling exciting advancements in sectors such as virtual reality, robotics and 3D printing,” said Graham Dewhurst, Director General, MTA. “We are proud to welcome some of the most innovative software and design companies in the world to MACH 2014 and we look forward to seeing their latest ideas in action on the show floor.”
Exhibitors occupying the zone include Vero, that will be showcasing the latest product developments from Edgecam, Radan, Alphacam and VISI on stands 4426 and 4361; and Tebis, that will be unveiling its new robotics module on stand 5042. Delcam, one of the world’s leading suppliers of advanced software for the manufacturing industry, has taken the largest stand in the zone at stand 4011 and will be showcasing its PowerMILL CAM software for five-axis and high-speed machining and the latest version of its feature-based programming system, FeatureCAM.
“We received over £250,000 of orders at MACH 2012 and we hope to exceed that total this year,” said Peter Dickin, Marketing Manager, Delcam. “One of the keys to our success is the strength of the partnerships we have forged over the years at MACH. It presents a great opportunity to meet customers, both old and new, and business partners face-to-face to discuss the latest advances in our design, machining and inspection technology.”
MACH brings together companies from a range of disparate industries, so that they can share ideas and witness innovative machinery in action. At MACH 2012, over 6,000 tonnes of live working machinery was on display, attracting over 21,500 visitors. Based on current projections, these figures are on course to be exceeded in 2014. The Software and Design Solutions Zone will be located in Hall 4 of the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.

About MACH:
MACH is the UK’s longest established and best attended manufacturing event. The exhibition is held at the NEC in Birmingham biennially and attracts in excess of 21,000 visitors and some 500 exhibitors showing the latest machines and other manufacturing equipment.
As the only UK exhibition of its kind and scale, the show is widely recognised as the place to source and buy new equipment. It is the range and sheer scale of the technology on show that is the unique feature of MACH. The event is owned and run on behalf of the industry by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), the not-for-profit trade body representing the UK’s hi-tech engineering-based manufacturing sector.
