Millers Oils joins forces with Wright Karts and ITV to support charity for injured servicemen

2 December 2014, Brighouse, Yorkshire – A charity that helps rehabilitate injured troops through motorsport has received two new karts and one year’s worth of oil, thanks to Millers Oils, Wright Karts and ITV’s Surprise, Surprise.  KartForce helps injured troops regain their confidence, providing memorable adrenaline-packed experiences, while also building a support network between them.

KartForce started 2013 with just five drivers, by the end of the year this figure had tripled and continues to grow with nearly 30 drivers now part of the charity. Until the Surprise, Surprise episode (which aired on the 5th of November), the drivers were sharing three karts, but thanks to ITV, Wright Karts and Millers Oils, the charity now has five karts to help rehabilitate injured servicemen through the motorsport project.

The karts feature specially designed and developed hand controls that suit a wide range of injuries and disabilities, unlike existing controls which don’t suit a driver with a weak hand, missing fingers or missing thumbs. These specialist controls level-the-playing-field, enabling injured troops to compete against able-bodied drivers.

“We’re thrilled we could support such a great cause,” says Jason Lavender, Motorsport Business Development Manager. “When ITV approached us to discuss helping KartForce, we couldn’t wait to get involved, the fact that motorsport is really helping these guys is excellent and we wish KartForce and all the drivers the best of luck for the future.”
