(STAFFORD, VA.) May 10, 2011 – Fiberweb, Inc. and Dynamic Defense Materials, LLC (DDM) will showcase new guard booth technology at the Force Protection Equipment Demonstration VIII (FPED) on May 17-19 at Northern Virginia’s Stafford Regional Airport. The new system provides warfighters with a portable ballistic and blast mitigation enclosure that features transparent gun ports for high combat visibility.

“Traditionally, soldiers have relied on makeshift guard booths that left occupants exposed to sniper fire or other threats,” said Frank Hollowell, Defencell Senior Sales Manager. “With the Defencell/DDM strategic alliance, we have developed a permanent, easy-to-transport guard shack that provides all-around protection and full situational awareness in combat situations.”

Similar in design to a guard booth, the new hybrid system combines the mobility of Fiberweb’s Defencell® Force Protection System with the visibility benefits of DDM’s McCurdy’s ArmorTM. This hybrid system produces a dirt-filled, steel-reinforced ballistic wall that can effectively defend against small-arms fire, mortars, near-miss artillery fire and high-speed vehicular threats. The system ships in 20 or 40-foot ISO containers, Tricons or standard pallets.

FPED Attendees can visit the Defencell booth, located in tent 35H, to view the system’s ballistic and blast protection/mitigation and logistical capabilities. FPED VIII is taking place at Northern Virginia's Stafford Regional Airport, located at Exit 136 off Interstate-95, 40 miles south of Washington, DC.
