JANUARY 26, 2011 (Los Angeles, CA) - Reality TV personality David Good, best known for getting a second chance on ABC’s “Bachelor Pad” after Season 5 of “The Bachelorette” has been named a Celebrity Ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), which funds groundbreaking research aimed at getting new treatments to patients faster, and to rally the public around the fight against the disease. To date, SU2C’s Celebrity Ambassadors have participated in two television telecasts across major networks and cable stations in 2008 and 2010, which raised more than $180 million in pledged donations.   SU2C celebrity ambassadors also participate in fundraising events and serve as spokespeople in public service announcements and media interviews to generate awareness about cancer’s devastating impact and the role research plays in the effort to end it.

“We are delighted to welcome David Good as an ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer,” said Kathleen Lobb, Senior Vice President of the Entertainment Industry Foundation and a co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer.  “David joins more than one hundred celebrities who have given unselfishly of their time to support this movement in the past two years.  The commitment of our ambassadors has helped us to reach millions of people to help fund critical translational cancer research.”

Good made the commitment to become part of the cause after several loved ones were struck with the disease, and when he learned of the organization’s groundbreaking andinnovative approach to cancer research.  SU2C is designed to eliminate barriers that have traditionally inhibited creativity and collaboration by enabling the best and brightest investigators from leading institutions across the country and the world to work together and accelerate the conquest of cancer. “The organization’s mission to raise awareness, and help support the research to find a cure is so important!  My involvement is simply my way to give back and help fight against this disease,” he said.

Adding, “Cancer claims the lives of 1,500 Americans every single day.  Unfortunately, I also know all too well that it can strike anyone, at anytime – and without regard to age, race, creed, fame or fortune. Having a grandfather and a best friend fighting this battle today, I want to be part of the effort that will drive research, awareness and a possible cure.  I am honored and proud to join this important grassroots movement as an Ambassador!”
