MechoSystems Delivers Industry-First Health Product Declaration

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y.—MechoSystems, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of manual, motorized, and automated solar-shading solutions, has completed its first Health Product Declaration (HPD).

An HPD gives specifiers an opportunity to assess the healthfulness of building materials. It provides product information based on a transparent-reporting process developed by the HPD Collaborative .

The Mecho®/5 manual roller shade with EcoVeil®shadecloth—available in a variety of designs with a range of solar-optical properties—is the window-treatment industry’s first and only shade system with an HPD.

Mecho/5 with EcoVeil is also Cradle to Cradle (C2C) CertifiedCM Silver , another industry first. That certification process takes full account of the entire lifecycle of a product, accounting for material health and reutilization, as well as water stewardship, renewable-energy use, and social fairness.

MechoSystems was an early pioneer, or “legacy leader,” of the C2C product standard. By developing an HPD, the company is continuing its tradition of leading the industry in environmental sustainability.
