MEDIA GIANTS - H&S PR –West Hollywood, Calif. (May 20, 2011) *** Mark L. Webb, Esq. has subpoenaed witnesses Carole Markin (Jane Doe) and her accused sexual assault perpetrator Alan Paul Wurtzel, as well as Match.com president Mandy Ginsberg  to testify at the Preliminary Injunction hearing in the Jane Doe v. Match.com civil suit. The Honorable Stephen Wilson of the United States District Court, Central District of California, has set the hearing for Monday, May 23 at 1:30 p.m. PT at 312 North Spring Street in Los Angeles, Calif., 90012. Media inquiries will be answered at the courthouse. [CASE NUMBER: 2:11-cv-03795-SVW-JEM.]

On May 5th, Mark L. Webb, Esq. filed a request for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and Preliminary Injunction to speed Match.com’s implementation of sexual predator screening. Match.com pushed the TRO and Preliminary Injunction hearing requests from the Los Angeles Superior Court to the Federal Court level.

Mark L. Webb has released the following statement regarding this coming Monday’s federal court hearing:

"The issue of sex offender screening has never before been presented to a court. Because Match.com moved this case to Federal Court, we now have the extraordinary opportunity of obtaining a federal guideline by which to measure sex offender screening in online dating services. No state has passed a law on this subject and therefore Judge Wilson's ruling could have huge ramifications. I believe that the judge's ruling in this case will set the standard in this arena. If it had not been for Carole Markin taking this stand, this issue may never have been addressed. The people of this nation owe her a debt of gratitude."

The purpose of the TRO and Preliminary Injunction is to use better methods in stopping potential sexual predators from using Match.com to prey on unsuspecting members. Mr. Webb had previously reached out to Match.com for a closed door meeting to discuss ways their company could implement the screening process sooner than 60 to 90 days and utilize more effective screening techniques with further reaching databases.
