The Most Luxurious Destination in Watamu, Launched in Style
Watamu, Kenya 24 July 2013……..It was a recipe for a memorable launch: Take one of the world’s top ten beaches, add Contemporary Swahili architecture with beautiful Indian Ocean views, combine with coastal dining at its very best, add a notable guest list and bespoke cocktails inspired by the location. The result? Medina Palms, an all suite property, which will raise the bar for Kenyan coastal tourism.
Over 130 VIP's and guests, from around the world, gathered at Medina Palms for the recent launch. Guests were treated to a gastronomic adventure, which was prepared by Medina Palms consultant chef, Dom Ashworth, formerly of Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant in the UK, in the new Amandina Restaurant.
Interactive cocktail demonstrations, a best of Kenya coffee presentation and Kite Surfing try outs were on the activity list for the comprehensive weekend programme.
Fire dancers and Electrafrique entertained the guests, whilst a Mumm champagne sabrage and whisky tasting continued into the warm starlit African night. During the day The Sakina Ocean Spa pampering sessions were particularly popular. The treatments focused on innovative therapies and holistic treatment options that benefit the mind, body and soul.
Speaking during the launch, the creators, husband and wife team, Nigel and Lesley-Anne Rowley, said: “At the heart of the creation of Medina Palms is a serious desire to showcase the best of Kenya whilst supporting community based conservation and environmental education activities. This commitment is demonstrated throughout the project, from the creation of an ecologically sustainable destination, to the numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects that the Medina team has created within the community, at the same time providing our guests with experiences and memories that last a lifetime.”
Medina Palms is located on a six acre beachfront site in Watamu, Kenya, comprising of luxury all suite accommodation, penthouses and villas. The development includes the Sakina Ocean Spa, Amandina Roof Top Restaurant, state of the art conference and business centre, fitness studio, water sports centre and international kite surfing school.
