Mekonomen Group is increasing its focus on efficiency through a new high-tech central warehouse
Mekonomen Group strengthens its focus on increased efficiency and availability for customers. The Group's Danish business area FTZ will build a new high-tech automated central warehouse with head office and training academy outside Odense. The initiative aims to further strengthen competitiveness and strengthen Mekonomen Group's already leading position in Denmark. The new facility will be completed in 2024.
FTZ is Denmark's leading supplier of spare parts in the vehicle aftermarket and now plans to gather central warehouse, regional warehouse, administration and training academy in a joint high-tech facility. The state-of-the-art and automated center will both increase efficiency and create better availability to the more than 135,000 items in stock. With up to 10 daily deliveries to workshop customers across the country, FTZ already has Denmark's best delivery service.
“I am glad that we are taking this offensive step that strengthens us further. We see great potential in continuing to streamline our warehouse and distribution processes by gathering experience, innovation and expertise in one place. This creates economies of scale and allows us to extract synergies in a new way”, says Sven Kristensen, Managing Director of FTZ, a part of Mekonomen Group.
The new facility will be built outside Odense in Denmark and is expected to be completed in 2024. The construction of the facility will not have a significant impact on the Group's cash flow or earnings. When the new central warehouse is in full operation, it will contribute to strengthened efficiency and results. The construction is in the procurement phase where Mekonomen Group intends to return with more information about the scope of the project at a later stage.
“Today, we are the leader in efficient logistics solutions and can now, thanks to our strong financial position, take another step towards the future. The investment in Denmark is in line with our strategy of ensuring a sustainable business and meeting customers' demands for mobility - today, tomorrow and in the future. Through the experience of our successful central warehouse project in Sweden, we have built a solid competence within the area that will contribute to the efficiency of the project”, says Pehr Oscarson, President and CEO of Mekonomen Group.
