Regional MSP Annabel Goldie says a local product design company is “doing exactly what Scotland needs” by expanding and creating new jobs.

The West of Scotland MSP visited award winning Meso Design, based at Inchinnan, where she met two of the company’s founding directors, Daniel Kane and Craig Lynn.

Created in 2008 by Glasgow School of Art graduates Daniel, Craig and fellow director Gregor Aikman, Meso Design is one of Scotland’s most dynamic product design companies, with a diverse portfolio that includes consumer electronics, industrial equipment, medical devices and products for the food and drinks sector.

During her visit, Annabel Goldie heard about Meso’s expansion plans, which include the launch of a new range of Meso products, and the proposed opening a £2million world class product design centre, ideally in the west of Scotland. It is hoped the new centre, which will include education and conference facilities for the design sector, could open as soon early as 2013.

Meso Design is also committed to supporting young innovators and provides sponsorship to the Glasgow School of Art.

Annabel said: “Daniel, Craig and Gregor have established one of Scotland’s most dynamic product design companies. Since its launch in 2008, Meso has worked on more than 50 projects for clients from entrepreneurs to multi-nationals across a range of sectors. They have real talent and are an inspiration to their peers, and a reminder to us all that there are those out there doing exactly what Scotland needs - being innovative, creative, entrepreneurial and creating jobs. I applaud their efforts and wish Meso Design every success.”

Meso Design director Danny Kane said: “We were delighted to welcome Annabel Goldie to meet the team at Meso Design, and we welcome her support for our ambitious plans to grow the company, and put Renfrewshire and the west of Scotland on the map as a centre of excellence for product design.”
