Metacon in cooperation with Hydroholding supplies first demonstration micro Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HRS) in Slovakia
Metacon, in cooperation with its distributor Hydroholding has entered into a contract for supplying the first demonstration Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS) in Slovakia.
The European HRS market is developing fast, linked to increasing market needs as well as a rapidly maturing base of available hydrogen-driven heavy and light vehicles. Metacon and Hydroholding will supply a cost-efficient micro-HRS solution for refuelling FCEVs with hydrogen at 350 bar to the haulage contractor DaliTrans. The micro-HRS is the first station in a planned series of three demonstration stations to be deployed in Slovakia under financing by the Slovak innovation and energy agency (SIEA).
Under the contract, Metacon will supply a fully containerized micro-HRS with a compression module, a dispenser module and a control console. To the micro-HRS, Hydroholding will supply hydrogen as well as services. The contract value is 1.9 MSEK at the current EUR-SEK exchange rate and the unit will be deployed in October 2022.
Johan Berggren, Head of Sales of Metacon said: "The European market for hydrogen refuelling stations has started to grow and we expect it to grow fast over many years, driven by the accelerating green energy and fuel transition. This will be our first HRS in a series of stations to Hydroholding in Slovakia and to the central European market".
Marek Roth, General Manager, Hydroholding commented; "Hydroholding is, together with its key partner Metacon, going to deliver one of the first hydrogen refuelling stations in Slovakia. We are pleased that we can be a part of the development of this booming market in our region and participate in the transition of various industries to a more sustainable and CO2 neutral stage. Further installations should follow in the future, including larger HRSs and technology for production and storage of hydrogen”.

About Metacon AB (publ)
Metacon AB (publ) develops and manufactures energy systems for the production of hydrogen, heat and electricity. The core products are based on a patented technology that, through so called catalytic steam reforming of biogas or other hydrocarbons, generates hydrogen. The development of Metacon's reforming products is done within the wholly owned subsidiary Helbio, which is a spin-off from the University of Patra, Greece and was founded by Professor Xenophon Verykios in 2001. From the onset, the business has focused on catalysts and advanced reforming for high-efficiency hydrogen production.
Metacon also offers system solutions for the production of hydrogen through electrolysis, a large and globally growing area for small and large-scale production of green hydrogen. Electrolysis is a process of starting and driving a chemical reaction to split water by adding electricity. If the electricity used is non-fossil and green, the hydrogen will also become completely climate neutral and green. Green hydrogen can be used in, for example, the transport sector, the basic industry and the real estate sector with a better environment and climate as a result. https://metacon.se/
About Hydroholding
Hydroholding is a supplier of hydrogen related technologies and a system integrator. With a strong management background in the business for traditional petrol stations, Hydroholding aspires to offer turn-key solutions in the rapidly growing market for alternative fuels, with specialization on hydrogen in its whole production cycle - from production, through storage and transportation, to dispersion via HRSs.
