Metacon in cooperation with Hydroholding to supply integrated PEM electrolyser and Hydrogen Refuelling Station in Slovakia
Metacon AB (publ) (“Metacon” or “Company”), in cooperation with its distribution and EPC partner Hydroholding is entering into a contract for the supply of an integrated 1 MW PEM Electrolyser and Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HRS) with a capacity of 400 kg per day. The total contract value for Metacon amounts to 3,9 MEUR (approx. 43 MSEK at current exchange rate). The unit will be deployed at the beginning of 2024.
The demand for green hydrogen as a fuel for transport vehicles continues to grow across Europe, and Metacon, along with select partners, has a chance to play a key role in this expansion. Following a completed public procurement process, Metacon, through its distribution and EPC partner Hydroholding, will supply a cost effective integrated 1 MW PEM electrolyser and HRS with 350 bar dispensing pressures to a, as of yet unnamed, client in Slovakia.
Within the scope of supply is the containerised electrolyser system, compression, storage, dispensing, tool kits and cooling equipment for the whole system, demonstrating Metacon’s ability to tailor and deliver complex turnkey solutions within the hydrogen field.
Christer Wikner, President and CEO of Metacon said: “We are very pleased that we together with Hydroholding can continue to demonstrate successful sales efforts in Slovakia, a very interesting growth market for hydrogen. The need to be able to produce domestic fossil-free fuel for Europe's future vehicle traffic is inexhaustible and we are just at the beginning of a long-term expansive market “.
Marek Roth, Board member, Hydroholding commented; “This integrated system of green hydrogen production, storage and dispensing via HRS will showcase the real potential of the technology and will be the first one of this kind in our region. We believe it is going to become the corner-stone for further development of the hydrogen related market, and will also positively increase the public awareness regarding this alternative source of energy, as an energy carrier of the future”.

About Metacon AB (publ)
Metacon AB (publ) develops and manufactures energy systems for the production of hydrogen, heat and electricity. The products in the Reforming business area are based, among other things, on a patented technology that generates hydrogen through so-called catalytic steam reforming of biogas or other hydrocarbons. The development of Metacon's reforming products is done within the wholly owned subsidiary Helbio S.A: which is a spin-off from the University of Patra, Greece.
Metacon also offers complete filling stations for hydrogen and system solutions and facilities for the production of hydrogen through so-called electrolysis, a large and globally growing area for small- and large-scale production of green hydrogen. Electrolysis is a process of starting and driving a chemical reaction to cleave water by adding electricity. If the electricity used is non-fossil and green, hydrogen will also be completely climate neutral and green. Green hydrogen can be used in, among other areas, the transport sector, the basic industry and the real estate sector with a better environment and climate as a result.www.metacon.com
