The lull in creativity is over. Finally, there is a new M-real ZANDERS calendar
for 2008. With CHROMOLUX pure, the fine papers specialist from Bergisch
Gladbach is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its cast-coated premium brand.
Just like the first ZANDERS calendar from 1961, the 2008 calendar also pays
homage to CHROMOLUX.

In order to celebrate “50 years of CHROMOLUX” with a calendar, an international
design competition was launched. The jury selected the creative design
submitted by the design agency, zinnobergruen, from Düsseldorf.

CHROMOLUX pure - as the 2008 calendar is known - continues the tradition of the
ZANDERS calendars. But it is more than just a calendar: it is a
three-dimensional calendar created exclusively from the CHROMOLUX paper range.
The focus is on returning to the basic functions of the calendar and creating a
design which is in harmony with the material used.

As usual, the 2008 M-real ZANDERS calendar divides the year into 53 weeks
rather than the usual 12 months. These weeks are accompanied by just as many
curved CHROMOLUX paper strips in different colours and lengths. The result is a
dynamic combination of shape, colour and glamour. Depending on the angle from
which he looks at the calendar, the viewer's eyes will wander over the paper
strips and interact with the image.

The paper strips in the calendar are attached to the calendar at the bottom; at
the top, they are inserted but not attached firmly. By pulling out a particular
week, the calendar for that week becomes visible on the reverse side. At the
end of the week, the paper strip is folded back into its original position and
the next week is opened. This turns the calendar into a living, ever-changing
object which offers considerable space and freedom for interpretation and
inspiration alike.

CHROMOLUX pure is available in four different colour combinations, representing
the elements fire, earth, water and air. The calendar is accompanied by a CD
featuring music composed by Thomas Taxus Beck, who took the interaction between
the colours in the calendar (and the elements which they represent) as his
inspiration.

For the 2008 Chromolux calendar, well-known designers, agencies, printers,
partners and friends of M-real Zanders were asked to submit a statement
expressing what CHROMOLUX means to them, why they love it and what they wish
CHROMOLUX for the coming years. 53 of the statements were selected and
immortalised in the 2008 CHROMOLUX calendar. These statements show that the
market leader among cast-coated fine papers will provide an inexhaustible
fountain of inspiration in the future as well.
