Kemiart Liners latest investment results in enhanced quality consistency

Press release 26.01.2006

M-real Kemiart Liners has completed the EUR 6.5 million rebuild of the coating
unit and coating colour circulation with a successful and in-time start-up. The
rebuild lasted one week in October 2005 and was the second phase in improving
formation, consistency and profiles.

”The rebuilt coating unit and coating colour circulation have proven to be very
reliable, enhancing product quality consistency and overall efficiency,” says
Mr Juha Lounasvaara, Vice President, Corrugated Case Materials. ”The jet
application of coating is gentler and more reliable as a coating process.
Having fewer web breaks at the coating station has improved efficiency and the
coat weight profile has also been extremely good. The investment gives us a
wider operating window to develop and change the coating recipe. Wider trim,
less broke and quicker grade changes result in better efficiency and slightly
increased capacity.”

The investment, which has now been completed, is part of Kemiart Liners'
strategic development programme to increase the production and sales of high
quality coated kraftliners. It will strengthen Kemiart's worldwide position as
a leading supplier of high performance coated linerboards for consumer and
retail corrugated board packaging.
