Metsä Board raises its result guidance for January–March 2018

Metsä Board is raising its result guidance for the first quarter of 2018, which was announced in Metsä Board’s 2017 financial statements bulletin.

The previous guidance was: Metsä Board’s comparable operating result in the first quarter of 2018 is expected to improve slightly compared to the fourth quarter of 2017. Metsä Board’s comparable operating result in the fourth quarter of 2017 was EUR 54.4 million.

The new guidance is: Metsä Board’s comparable operating result in the first quarter of 2018 is expected to improve compared to the fourth quarter of 2017.

The pulp market has remained strong in the beginning of 2018, and the market price of long-fibre pulp, which impacts on Metsä Board’s result, has continued to rise. In addition, the paperboard market has been strong and the level of operational efficiency of the mills has been high.

There are no major maintenance shutdowns during the first quarter, which has a clear positive impact on the result compared to other quarters.
