Botnia has signed EUR 210 million credit facility

Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab has  signed the 5-year revolving facility. Signing took
place 24th September, 2003 in Helsinki. 

The Facility is for general corporate purposes including refinancing of
Botnia´s existing revolving credit facility. 

The arranger of the syndicated credit facility is Nordea and the other
participating banks are Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, Norddeutsche Landesbank,
Sampo Bank, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken and OKO Osuuspankkien Keskuspankki. 
Sampo Bank acts as the facility agent. 

Botnia is among the largest pulp manufactures in Europe with an annual
production capacity of 2.7 million tons of pulp. Botnia manufactures
top-quality pulp grades in Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Rauma and Äänekoski and
the main products are bleached softwood, birch and aspen pulps. Botnia´s
turnover in 2002 amounted to EUR 1.034 billion. At the end of June 2003
Botnia´s total assets were EUR 1.5 billion and equity ratio was 68.9%. Botnia
is owned by UPM-Kymmene (47%), M-real (47%) and Metsäliitto (6%).
