Botnia Rauma Mill back to normal production operation

Report this content
Pulp production at Botnia Rauma mill has now been restored to normal.

With the fire-fighting and clearance efforts completed after the fire that
broke out on the chip conveyor on Monday 5 September, one of the two damaged
chip piles has been taken back to production operation. Operation on the other
pile cannot be restored until after the sections of the chip conveyor and the
chip pile unloading equipment that were destroyed in the fire have been
replaced. The replacement of the destroyed equipment will take some three
months.

The conveyor assembly was badly damaged, and for this reason the cause of the
fire cannot be established with certainty. The cause is suspected to be
overheating of the equipment due to a blockage.

The chips charred in the fire will not be used in pulp production. In stead,
they are utilised in energy generation.

Pulp deliveries to customers continue as normal. Transports of chips will
continue by special arrangements.
