Botnia's R&D Competence Centre becomes Fibre Technology Competence Centre

Botnia' s Research and development competence centre has been renamed. The new
name is Fibre technology competence centre. The main task of the Fibre
technology competence centre is to handle customer-oriented product and process
development and environmental protection expertise. The new organization became
effective on 
3 December 2002.

The new competence centre's areas of expertise have been defined. Competences
will be further developed by setting up development groups. The group managers
responsible for the development groups are Ari Poukka, Pirkko Liias, Vesa
Mikkonen, Henrik Söderström, Jukka Rantamäki, Kari Ala-Kaila, Esa Hassinen,
Veli-Antti Kivilinna and Outi Poukka. 

The work of the groups will be steered by Raili Koponen, Vice President,
Research and Development, in the area of product development, and by Ismo
Reilama, Vice President, Process Development and Environment, in matters
relating to these areas. 

Marja-Liisa Autio, Urpo Luukkanen, Esko Pekuri, Marko Ruottinen, Camilla
Wikström and Tari Väätäinen have been appointed Project Managers. Sari Tupitsa
and Mauno Ruhanen have been appointed Environment Managers. 
Taina Pauna continues as Project Manager, Marjukka Saarela as Laboratory
Manager, and Virpi Haaranen as Project Technician. 

Sari Urpilainen and Irmeli Uusitalo (currently on leave, deputy Kirsti
Kauranen) will continue as Assistants. Secretarial services are provided by
Tuula Salminen, Management Secretary at Äänekoski, and Tuula Yli-Suutala,
Departmental Assistant at Kemi. 

The leader of the Fibre technology competence centre is Maarit Herranen, Senior
Vice President.
