Botnia's result much improved on this period last year

Sales for the first quarter of 2006 were EUR 316.4 million, 24 per cent up on
last year's corresponding figure (255.3 million). The volume of pulp sales rose
by almost 8 per cent to 655,000 tonnes. 


Operating profit was EUR 48.1 million, 104 per cent higher than in the first
quarter last year (23.6 million). The improved operating profit is attributable
to higher sales prices for pulp and the favourable trend in the exchange rate
