Finnforest will supply a Kerto® based roofing solution to Kesko's Karisma
shopping centre in Karisto, Lahti.
“Kesko's aim is to build a shopping centre in Karisto that will not only be the
most modern shopping centre in Lahti but also offer the widest choice of shops.
K-Citymarket will be one of the centre's key businesses,” says Timo Heikkilä,
Kesko's District Director for Southeastern Finland.

Some 22,000 sqm of the shopping centre roof will be covered using Kerto-Ripa®
elements that have a span of 12 metres and are 2.5 metres wide. The advantages
offered by Finnforest roofing solution include rapid construction, lightweight
structures, fire safety and energy efficiency. The pre-fabricated elements
incorporate the roof covering, thermal insulation and bottom lining plate,
which means that the building can be quickly covered and the interior
construction can be started efficiently.

“We chose Finnforest Kerto-Ripa because this solution will give us a finished
roof for the entire centre at once,” says Ari Ojala, Sourcing Director at SRV
Business Premises Ltd, the contractor for the site. “Wood is a natural choice
of material for the Karisma shopping centre, which serves as a gateway to the
Karisto town district. Wood construction provided the starting point for the
planning of this area, and we wanted to maintain that same spirit.”

Located just off Road 4, the construction of the shopping centre began in
February 2010 and is scheduled for completion by Christmas 2011.
