International recognition for Metsä Group´s Pro Nemus visitor centre

Metsä Group’s Pro Nemus visitor centre in Äänekoski has won numerous international design awards. The most significant of these, the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’ award, was granted in Berlin in October 2019. In addition, the visitor centre won gold in the prestigious German Design Awards competition for excellent communications design, and silver in the European Design Awards competition. The visitor centre has also been featured in several distinguished design publications in the United States and Europe.
“We are delighted that the design and innovativeness of Pro Nemus has won recognition in international competitions. The visitor centre is a globally unique site that showcases opportunities in the forest industry in a creative manner, making use of technology and virtual reality. Experiential communication offers memorable experiences of how Finnish wood is sustainably converted into various bioproducts,” says Juha Laine, SVP, Communications at Metsä Group.
More than 15,000 visitors already
Located in Metsä Group’s mill area in Äänekoski Finland, Pro Nemus has attracted over 15,000 visitors so far. Visitors to Pro Nemus are representatives of Metsä Group’s various stakeholder groups in Finland and abroad.
The MKTG creative experiential agency was responsible for concept creation and experiential content for Pro Nemus. The Great Apes design agency was responsible for its impressive virtual digital design, with Media Monks as the digital production partner. The building was designed by UKI Arkkitehdit Oy, and KOKO3 was responsible for its interior design. Bright Finland served as the technology partner.
