On the 5th of May, as part of the global hand hygiene promotion campaign, the World Health Organization (WHO) features the Web sites of advocates around the globe who are committed to the WHO SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands campaign, which is aimed at maintaining a global profile for the importance of hand hygiene in health care to reduce health-care-associated infections and increase patient safety worldwide. Since 2009, 5 May has also been celebrated as World Hand Hygiene day by the WHO, Katrin, and others who truly believe that proper hand hygiene is a ‘must’ in our day-to-day life.
