Metsä Group completed statutory labour negotiations concerning its Kerto® LVL and plywood mills

Metsä Wood, the company responsible for Metsä Group’s wood product business, has completed the statutory labour negotiations to implement a new target organisation model at all of its Kerto® LVL and plywood mills. The negotiations started in November 2015 as part of the performance improvement programme announced in late 2014. The programme aims for further improvements in production excellence in line with the company’s industrial efficiency strategy and for increased labour flexibility at its production units in Finland. Metsä Wood’s sawmills introduced the new target organisation model during 2015 and the new salary system on 1 January 2016.
As a result of the negotiations, altogether 48 people will leave the organisation. The personnel reductions will mainly be implemented during the first quarter of 2016.
