Metsä Group’s comparable operating result in the third quarter of 2020 better than expected

METSÄ GROUP    STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE   9 October 2020

On 30 July 2020 in connection to the announcement of Metsä Group’s January-June 2020 results it was estimated that the comparable operating result will weaken in the third quarter of 2020 from the EUR 96 million in the second quarter.

Mainly due to better than expected profitability in paperboard and pulp businesses Metsä Group’s comparable operating result was in the third quarter of 2020 better than in the second quarter.

Based on preliminary unaudited information the comparable operating result was approximately EUR 115 million in the third quarter of 2020.

Metsä Group will publish the January-September 2020 interim report on 29 October 2020.
