METSÄLIITTO BUYS 9% OF METSÄ-BOTNIA'S SHARES FOR EUR 240 MILLION

Metsäliitto Group's parent company, Metsäliitto Cooperative, has today acquired
9% of Metsä-Botnia's shares from M-real Corporation. The transaction is a part of
a restructuring programme announced by M-real on 18.10.2006.

Both M-real and Metsä-Botnia are subsidiaries of Metsäliitto Group. In this
internal transaction within the Group, Metsäliitto is paying M-real EUR 240
million for the Metsä-Botnia shares.
