The ownership structure of the Baltic sawmilling companies SIA Vika Wood
(Latvia) and AS Toftan (Estonia), which are currently owned by the Metsäliitto
subsidiary Thomesto and the Swedish holding company Hebeda Trä AB, is to
change. Thomesto has today, 14 September 2005, signed an agreement to sell its
interests in the two companies to Hebeda Trä. The Metsäliitto Group holds 40%
of Vika Wood and 40% of Toftan. Metsäliitto's focus on its core businesses in
the Baltic region has given Hebeda Trä the opportunity to acquire Metsäliitto's
shareholding in the two companies and thus bring its own holding up to 100%.

Vika Wood uses 550,000 m3 of logs annually and Toftan 300,000 m3. The two
sawmills' log delivery contracts with Metsäliitto's local subsidiaries will
continue. The sale will have no effect on the activities of Reopalu sawmill in
Estonia, which is operated by the Metsäliitto subsidiary Finnforest.
