Metsäliitto Group to sell Finnforest Romania to Austrian merchant chain

The Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry continues to focus on its core
businesses. Following this strategy, Metsäliitto is to sell its entire share
capital of the wood products trading company Finnforest Romania s.r.l to the
Austrian merchant chain J.u.A. Frischeis Ges.m.b.H. 

Finnforest Corporation, which merged with Metsäliitto Cooperative in March
2006, acquired Finnforest Romania s.r.l. in 1999 as part of the acquisition of
the merchant chain Baillou Holzhandel, specialised in the sale of panel
products in Central and Eastern Europe. While the business has expanded
steadily in Romania and the market has been growing, the share of Finnforest's
products has been minor. 

Last year, Finnforest Romania's sales were EUR 14.5 million and it employs 30
people. The sale is subject to the approval of the competition authorities.
