Metsäliitto to sell its forest holdings in Estonia
22 June 2006
Metsäliitto has sold its forest holdings in Estonia totalling some 5,000
hectares to the Swedish forestry group Södra.
”Metsäliitto's forest holdings in Estonia were acquired in the 1990s partly for
growing aspen”, says Heikki Karhunen, Senior Vice President, Wood Supply, the
Baltic countries. ”The forest holdings are rather small and scattered
throughout Estonia and thus have no major impact on Metsäliitto's wood supply.”
By selling the forest holdings in Estonia, Metsäliitto continues to focus on
its core businesses.
