Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry to renew its organisation

The operational model of Metsäliitto’s Wood Products Industry is fine-tuned to increase clarity in roles and responsibilities and to enhance the utilisation of synergies. The target of the changes is to invest more in advancing wood-based construction in addition to a more straightforward and efficient organisation.
The ever stricter energy-efficiency requirements set out in the Eurocodes (European technical standards) promote the competitiveness of wood in comparison to competing materials in residential and commercial construction and renovation.

The operations of Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry are divided into three business lines: Building Products, Solid Wood, and Timber and Upgrades.
B.Sc. (Eng.) Ari Tiukkanen (50) has been appointed Senior Vice President, Building Products and member of the Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry Management Team. Tiukkanen will start in the position in May 2012 at the latest. Tiukkanen will take up the new position from Revenio Group where he has held the position of Managing Director of Icare Finland Oy since 2008. Prior to that Tiukkanen has worked for several years at Finnforest as Vice President Engineered Wood Products.
Joni Lukkaroinen is in charge of Timber and Upgrades business line. Lasse Wikström is responsible for Plywood business line.
In addition to the above mentioned persons, Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry Management Team consists of Atte Ailio (Finance and Strategy), Juha Kauppila (HR) and Timo Kouri (R&D, Sourcing and Logistics).
