MetsäTissue continuously improves its environmental performance

WWF has published its second evaluation on the European tissue paper producers'
environmental responsibility. Metsä Tissue was second overall in this
evaluation.

Metsä Tissue aims to strengthen its position as the forerunner in the tissue
industry with the best environmental performance. We develop all our operations
based on the principle of continuous improvement. This includes minimising the
environmental impacts of our operations by reducing the use of fibre, energy
and water.

Metsä Tissue is committed to the development of high-quality recycled products.
We invest in developing the deinking, papermaking and the converting of these
products. Last year, we increased the share of recycled fibres from 52% to 55%.

Based on consumer preferences, we also produce a variety of products from
primary fibres. Metsä Tissue is committed to using only such primary paper
pulps which are based on sustainable managed forests, and where economic,
social and environmental issues are balanced. We promote reliable forest
certification systems. Some 96% of the used pulp comes from independent,
third-party certified forests.

All products sold in the Nordic market carry the Swan Label.

Metsä Tissue's environmental principles and policies are published on our
website, where you can also find detailed information on our environmental
performance. Read more
