The Uruguayan president Tabaré Vazquez inaugurated today, on 29 August 2007 at
11 a.m. local time, officially the harbour of the company ONTUR in Nueva
Palmira. The harbour company is owned by Botnia (40 %), Ontemar (18%), NYK
Lauritzen Cool (14%), Christophersen S.A. (14%) and Swed Fund International
(14%). The harbour was enlarged to facilitate the pulp deliveries and its
warehouse is one of the largest in Uruguay. In addition to pulp deliveries, the
harbour is an important export hub for fruit and other products.

The Uruguayan pulp mill of Metsä-Botnia is in its finalizing stage and will be
ready for start up in September. At the Fray Bentos mill itself, there is
storage capacity only for approximately one day's production and the pulp will
be delivered with barges 70 km downstream to Nueva Palmira. In the harbour
there is 30,000 m2 covered warehouse space, able to store 100,000 tons of pulp.
In Nueva Palmira the pulp is then loaded into ocean carriers transporting it to
customers in Europe and in China.
