President and CEO Eino Halonen appointed to Metsäliitto Group's Board of
Directors

Suomi Mutual Life Assurance Company's President and CEO Eino Halonen was selected
on Thursday to be a new member of the Board of Directors in the Metsäliitto
Group. In addition to Metsäliitto, he is a member of the Board of Directors in
Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, OKO Bank, and YIT.

Metsäliitto Cooperative's Representative Council decided at its Annual General
Meeting held on 12-13 April 2006 to keep the interest on members' share payments
unchanged. Based on the result for 2005, interest of 6.5% shall be paid on the
subscribed members' capital, 5.5% interest for additional members' capital A, and
4.0% interest on additional members' capital B.

At the end of 2005, Metsäliitto's subscribed members' capital and additional
members' capital amounted to EUR 678.1 million, which is EUR 50 million more than
the previous year. The interest on members' capital amounts to EUR 37.4 million.
The interest will be paid as of 26 April 2006, provided that the member has made
the statutory share payment in full.

The Representative Council confirmed the annual accounts for 2005, and discharged
from liability the members of the Supervisory Board, Board of Directors and the
Chief Executive Officer.

The following outgoing members of the Supervisory Board: Aarne Hedetniemi (farmer
from Haapajärvi), Hannu Järvinen (M.Sc. in Agriculture and Forestry, from
Janakkala), Esko Kinnunen (farmer from Pieksämäki), Hannu Lassila (farmer from
Veteli), Martti Niiranen (farmer from Varpaisjärvi), Seppo Reijonen (farmer from
Polvijärvi), Timo Saukkonen (M.Sc.Forestry from Rautjärvi), Olav Store (farmer

the next three-year term. Farmer Timo Nikula from Laitila was elected to the
Supervisory Board as a new member for the next three-year term.

At their statutory meeting, the Supervisory Board re-elected Runar Lillandt
(Counsellor of Agriculture from Kristiinankaupunki) as Chairman and Aarne
Hedetniemi (farmer from Haapajärvi) as Vice Chairman.

In addition, the Supervisory Board decided to complement the Metsäliitto Group's
Board of Directors with one member. The new elected member is Eino Halonen, 56,
President and CEO of Suomi Mutual Life Assurance Company.

Halonen has a long career in the banking and insurance sector. He has worked, for
example, as a member of the Board of Governors in Merita Bank, the CFO of
MeritaNordbanken and the CEO of Pohjola Life Ensurance Company. Halonen is also a
member of the Board of Directors in Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company,
OKO Bank and YIT.

In accordance with Metsäliitto's rules and the results of the Representative
Council election held in 2003, the Supervisory Board invited Ilmari Aikkinen
(farmer from Mynämäki) to the Representative Council as a replacement for Timo
Nikula, who was joining the Supervisory Board.
