Serla Local Good competition winners selected

Metsä Tissue’s Serla brand organised a ‘Local Good’ campaign in Finland and Scandinavia, asking the public to submit suggestions for small-scale improvements in their local communities. The campaign ran from 1.9.2011 to 15.1.2012 on Serla’s websites and Facebook pages. Consumers voted for the top 20 best suggestions, from which the Serla marketing team chose the winners.

“We received 459 different ideas and almost 32,000 votes through the campaign site in Finland,” says Minna Cousins, Vice President, Marketing & Business Development.  “As no single idea received a clear majority of the votes, we awarded 5,000 euros to eight different projects. In addition to those eight projects, one good cause, animal rescue, received several applications. Therefor a bigger sum, 10,000 euros was given to this deed – 1,000   euros for ten most voted suggestions.  This way we were able to support several good causes.”

“In Sweden and Norway we chose five different ideas per country, so our support covers a wide area and a number of different causes, including sports, animal welfare and community projects.”

Altogether Serla donated EUR 50,000 in Finland and SEK 500,000 in Scandinavia as part of the campaign.

Serla will follow up the progress of the winning projects in the Internet and on Facebook throughout the year.
