Swedish paper workers' strike ends

Report this content
The Swedish Paper Workers' Union ended its ten-day strike on Monday after
reaching a new 22 month agreement with the Forest Industries Federation.
Paper workers from six mills had been on strike since April 16th, and the union
warned that another seven production units would join the strike late Monday if
last-bid talks broke down.

Metsä Tissue is relieved that negotiations succeeded at this critical juncture.
The planned extension of the work stoppage would have limited the already tight
pulp availability further. We are pleased to announce that the proactive extra
measures taken by the company worked well and the stoppage did not cause any
major inconvenience to our customers.
