Metsä Group Stock Exchange Release 29 January 2019 at 10:15 am EET

In May 2018, the Helsinki Court of Appeal rendered its judgement in a case in which Metsähallitus claimed the judgment of the Helsinki District court rendered in June 2016 to be overturned as well as damages from Metsäliitto Cooperative, Stora Enso Oyj and UPM-Kymmene Corporation based on their conduct on the raw wood market 1997–2004. In its judgment, the Court of Appeal found that Metsähallitus has not presented evidence that the conduct of the companies had price reducing effects and thus the Court of Appeal rejected the claims made by Metsähallitus and ordered Metsähallitus to compensate the defendants’ legal costs.

Metsähallitus applied for leave to appeal the judgment of the Court of Appeal from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has in a decision rendered 29.1.2019 rejected the leave for appeal application, meaning that the judgment of the Helsinki Court of Appeal is final.
