Katya Torres de la Rocha, CEO of mexgrocer.co.uk, has been named Business Personality of the Year and will accept the award at the LUKAS Awards 2014 ceremony which will be held on Wednesday 30 April 2014.

The LUKAS Awards, now in their third year, are the only awards to recognise the contribution of Britain’s one million Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese residents.

Winning the award celebrates Katya’s work in developing mexgrocer.co.uk into an international brand and establishing Mexican food as a firm favourite in the UK. In recent months mexgrocer.co.uk has become a exclusive supplier of Mexican food on Amazon.co.uk, been voted one of The Times Top 50 Food Sites and listed as one of the best suppliers in The Independent’s 50 Best Food Websites. In January 2014, the company’s first overseas franchise was launched in Norway.

Speaking about winning the award, Katya said: “I’m ecstatic to win Business Personality of the Year. It’s a huge honour to me and signifies the international growth of mexgrocer.co.uk. November 2013 saw Katya named Mexico-UK Entrepreneur of the Year by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain, with the award being made at the Chamber’s third annual Gala. The focus of the event was to recognise people and businesses whose work enhances the relationship between the UK and Mexico.

Katya’s passion for Mexican food has infused every part of her life and dynamic entrepreneurial career. Since taking over mexgrocer.co.uk, Katya has made it her mission to share her passion for her Mexican heritage. She aims to inspire families, foodies, restaurateurs and chefs across Europe.
