Mgage Systems AB launches range of mobile Internet applications. First customer on board. Mobyson AS, a new mobile operator that focuses on games and entertainment, has chosen Mgage Systems AB's Mobile Chat as part of its services roll-out that began in Norway last week. Mobyson is the first operator in Europe to focus solely on the young mobile generation aged 17 to 32. With Mobyson as its first customer and following the recent closing of an investment round, Mgage is now officially launching a range of applications aimed at mobile Internet service providers (MISPs). Mobile Chat is one of the applications in Mgage's mobile Internet messaging suite, which is built on an open standards-based application architecture that will enable MISPs to quickly expand their mobile Internet offerings. "I think Mgage has one of the most innovative and unique applications that add value for end users," says Jonas Kjellberg, CEO of Mobyson. "We chose to work with Mgage because their applications are thrilling and user friendly, and also easy to implement." The mobile Internet market is exploding: estimates (The Strategis Group Inc.) show that there will be at least a billion users by 2005. The younger generation will be the ones who drive this market, forcing the emergence of new innovative applications that combine elements of messaging, entertainment and personalised information. Thanks to the company's dynamic application architecture, Mgage Systems AB is very well positioned to meet future demands. "Our agreement with Mobyson proves that our state-of-the-art applications are ready for a demanding market," says Styrbjörn Horn, CEO of Mgage Systems AB. "We'll continue to work closely with mobile Internet service providers, new entrants and device vendors. We're committed to making the best applications to satisfy the needs of all three interdependent players: operators, vendors and end users." Mgage Systems AB is launching its mobile Internet applications, initially in the European market, with the backing of several strong financial investors: InnovationsKapital, Trident Capital and Kaupthing Investment Bank. "Scandinavia leads the global market in terms of wireless penetration and the use of mobile services. We believe that Mgage has the right team and the vision necessary to be a clear leader in the emerging market for enhanced wireless data services and next-generation communications," says Don Dixon, managing director of Trident Capital. "We're looking forward to assisting them in applying their solutions to the North American market."
