Stoke-on-Trent – August 13, 2012

A specialist travel company that looks after eight Premiership football clubs has adopted a full Michelin policy on its chauffeured fleet after achieving record mileage from its tyres.

Merseyside based Ellisons Travel, which counts Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea as its clients as well as the England Rugby team, tested Michelin tyres on its luxury car fleet and found improved performance as well as up to 30 per cent extra mileage.

As a result, the company will be fitting Michelin tyres to its fleet of 42 Mercedes cars and is reviewing its policy on a further three Mercedes Sprinters and 23 luxury coaches.

Mike Magowan, Finance Director for Ellisons Travel, said: “Michelin is obviously by far the best product on the market for the type of work we carry out and the mileage we require.

“On our Mercedes S and E Class cars, we’re getting up to 40,000 miles, and our Mercedes Vianos are achieving around 50,000 miles.

“I think the key to the success of Michelin tyres is that the tread depth wears very evenly and the side walls are particularly durable, which is why we are achieving maximum mileage and reliability.

“Some of our cars can travel 11,000 miles each month, so the extra mileage that Michelin tyres provide is a big bonus for us.”

Ellisons Travel specialises in luxury corporate hospitality and uses a digital tracking system as well as manual driver checks to accurately monitor how many miles each tyre lasts.

Dave Crinson, Head of Fleet Sales for Michelin, said: “Our customers expect high quality and safe products which can deliver notable mileage, which is why Michelin places these three aspects at the top of its agenda.

“We pride ourselves on the longevity and durability of our tyres, and we are proud that fleets such as Ellisons Travel are seeing the full benefits of our tried and tested technology.”

A family business established in the 1920s, Ellisons Travel covers the whole of the UK and uses Tyrecare, based in St Helens, as its service provider.
