Wilh. Sonesson launches non-prescription skin-care product that, in clinical studies, has demonstrated favorable effects on age-related skin changes. Wilh. Sonesson subsidiary, MaxMedica, has initiated the Nordic launch of the Jabu'she skin-care product, which, in clinical studies, has demonstrated significant differences in a randomized, placebo- controlled, double-blind study with regard to age-related facial skin change. The study, which was approved by the ethical committee of the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, shows that 12 weeks of localized treatment with the Jabu'she skin cream improves several of the dermatological symptoms associated with age-related change. Associate professor, Dr Harry Beitner, was responsible for the study. "In the clinical study that has been conducted, we have been able to confirm a 50-percent reduction in the depth of wrinkles after three months of use. The majority of the subjects also perceived that their facial color grew healthier, their skin more supple and that the bags under their eyes began to decrease," explains Dr Harry Beitner. Jabu'she is based on Lipodermix QA 100, for which the patent application is currently pending. This consists of three active ingredients, Liponic acid, Co-enzyme Q10 and Acetyl-L-Carnithine, which increase activity in skin cells. The have a reparatory effect and diminish age-related damage while strengthening the skins defenses against "free radicals." The cream also has a muscle-tightening effect, increasing the skins elasticity. The study included 33 women between 40 and 75 years of age, with an average age of 54.4 years. The test lasted for a period of 12 weeks. The study was designed and documented in accordance with the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standard. Lund, April 10, 2002 Wilh.
