Millicom sells interest in mobile operator in the democratic republic of congo

MILLICOM SELLS INTEREST IN MOBILE OPERATOR IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO New York, London and Luxembourg - September 5, 2002 - Millicom International Cellular S.A. ("MIC") (Nasdaq Stock Market: MICC), the global telecommunications investor, today announced that its GSM wireless telephony license in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been sold to a previous joint venture partner, Orton Investment Holdings Limited.
