Wrangler has a won a rare triple at Cannes Lions: scooping advertising awards three years in a row!

The iconic denim brand this month took prizes at Cannes Lions in the outdoor and print categories for its thrilling STUNT campaign, the latest in Wrangler’s We Are Animals advertising series.

STUNT, shot by renowned photographer Cass Bird at Los Angeles’ legendary Paramount Studios, features real Hollywood stunt people crashing through windows, diving clear of explosions and set on fire. No CGI was used, what you see is genuine danger, and Wrangler’s adrenaline-fuelled mindset comes tearing off the page.

With the latest awards, Wrangler has managed an unprecedented coup for a denim brand, to be honoured every year for three years at Cannes Lions, the world’s most prestigious advertising festival. STUNT took silver in the outdoor category, for its giant and impactful billboards, and silver in the print category, where Wrangler’s daring execution stood out from other, more traditional fashion ads.

Last year, Wrangler won Cannes Lions for its Red campaign, exhilarating images of bare-chested men and women exploding out of red dust. The previous year, Wrangler was honoured for the We Are Animals shots by Ryan McGinley of young people gone feral in nature.

Wrangler was also short-listed at Cannes Lions for its digital work: for Stunt, for SS11 collection Worn Across America and for premium line Blue Bell. In addition to the success at Cannes, Wrangler was short-listed last week for Most Innovative Marketing at the Global Fashion Awards; winners are announced in the fall.

Adam Kakembo, marketing director, Wrangler EMEA, said: " We are delighted that the innovative and creative work we are generating is recognised and rewarded by the creative community. To win three years in a row at Cannes Lions almost never happens, and now makes us the most awarded denim brand in the last 12 months for our digital and advertising work. We will keep pushing creative boundaries to cut through and connect with our consumers."

Editors note:

Then:

Wrangler's denim history goes back to 1904 when Charlie Hudson founded the Hudson Overall Company in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. In 1919, the company is named Blue Bell and, in 1947, with the start of a range of jeans for cowboys, it receives a new name: Wrangler, the name of a working cowboy.

Now:
Wrangler’s unrivalled denim heritage lives on in contemporary cut jeans, still packed with seven iconic details including flat copper rivets and ergonomic watch pocket. Signature designs such as the 27MW shirt and 11MJ jackets are beloved by denim connoisseurs and fashion fanatics alike.

Wrangler, the original American outdoor denim brand, is committed to producing the best modern jeanswear. Progressive, contemporary fits such as the regular-tapered Ben for men, or the high-waisted skinny Jess for women, are energized with innovative finishes.

Wrangler jeans are built for strength and tailored for freedom. Wearing Wrangler jeans, we can surrender to animal instincts, embrace the rush of adrenaline and be our natural, wild, spontaneous selves. Who wants to be civilized? We Are Animals.

Wrangler is part of VF Corporation, the world's largest apparel company. VF brands include Lee, North Face, Napapijri and 7 For All Mankind.
