Kristiina Helenius Joins Global Fairness Initiative Board of Directors
Distinguished Finnish emissary and public influencer joins community of leaders advancing a more just, equitable future of work for the world’s working poor
Kristiina Helenius, former Finnish Journalist and CEO of the International Sanctions and Export Control Society, received unanimous support to join the Global Fairness Initiative (GFI) Board, serving with Kenya’s Rose Omamo as GFI’s newest Directors. Ms. Helenius joins GFI on the 20th anniversary of its founding by Karen Tramontano and Former GFI Board Chair William Jefferson Clinton.
“We are thrilled Kristiina has joined our exceptional Board at this critical time for GFI and the international development community,” said GFI Founder, Karen Tramontano. “She has a deep understanding of the social and economic systems that influence the future of workers in this new economic landscape. She gets what we do, and we will lean on her leadership.”
Ms. Helenius brings to GFI a powerful global business network cultivated through extensive work with the private sector, including as head of the US Chamber of Commerce in Finland and as CEO of Miltton US. She has also developed exceptional media expertise, having served as a communication strategist, public spokesperson, and the first woman appointed chief correspondent at Yleisradio, Finland's national public broadcasting company. Throughout her career, Kristiina has brought together multiple stakeholder to strengthen the dialogue between the public and private sector, the media and the issues and ideas that define today’s international diplomatic and development agenda.

ABOUT KRISTIINA HELENIUS
Kristiina Helenius (Finland)
Kristiina Helenius, who started her career as a news reporter, foreign correspondent, and social influencer based in Munich, Seoul, Paris, and Brussels, currently serves as CEO of the International Sanctions and Export Control Society, based in Washington, D.C. Previously, Helenius has served as CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Finland, Press Counselor at the Embassy of Finland in Washington, and CEO and partner of Miltton USA advising Nordic companies accessing the US market. As a journalist, Kristiina worked at the Finnish Broadcasting Company, where she was the first woman appointed as chief correspondent covering the EU, NATO, and the European Central Bank. Helenius has held numerous trustee positions including an executive board seat at AmChams-in-Europe, International Women's Forum DC, and the delegation of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. She is a founding member of the John Morton Centre of American Studies at the University of Turku, the school where she received her Master's in Economics and Business Administration.
