User-controlled portal groups web The Mind Internet company has been commissioned to develop the user- controlled Internet portal, Voice, for the Acti media company. The portal, which is tailor-made to meet users' needs, will group together web services such as e-commerce and chat on one single site. This is one of the most comprehensive web projects carried out in Sweden so far and even in its introductory phase, it is worth approximately SEK 15 million to Mind. The portal will be launched in spring 2000. Voice will group various web services together such as Internet stores, co-shopping and auctions. The portal will also provide a community, enabling users to communicate via personal ads, exchange forums, chat rooms, etc.. Users will complete a questionnaire about their interests and likes. Information, news and offers will then be adapted so that users only receive the information they want. The portal is a further development of the interactive newspaper service, Voice Magazine, which is already available. This is a monthly magazine, adapted to suit each reader. The Voice project is managed by the Acti media company. The portal will be launched in spring 2000. "The content of the portal is tailor-made to suit each individual, for example, someone who is interested in skiing will not require offers and information about furnishings. In the same way, those interested in wine could have a chat room where wine is the only subject for discussion," says Per Andersson, IT Manager at Acti. Mind is developing the Internet portal for Acti and is contributing advanced technical solutions, for example, managing all of the information distributed to and received from individual users. In its introductory phase, the project is worth SEK 15 million to Mind. "The solution for Voice is based on an entirely new concept and involves a new type of challenge for Mind. The project is very exciting and we believe that we are not only providing skills but we are also helping to develop an innovative concept," says Jörgen Larsson, CEO at Mind.
