Last week Minesto had the opportunity to host a study visit to the company’s site in Vestmanna, Faroe Islands, in conjunction with the international energy conference 7th Hybrid Power Plant & Systems Conference.

A delegation of conference attendees received a tour of Minesto’s technology at the new onshore operations and maintenance (O&M) work site in the inner harbour of Vestmanna, Inni á Fjørð. The event attracted international representation from corporations and organisations such as AFRY, Vattenfall, EDF and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), as well as the Faroese community;  Umhvørvisstovan (The Environment Agency), the University of Faroe Islands and Minesto’s collaboration partner and customer utility company SEV.

Minesto’s technology was displayed and showcased for the attendees at the facilities. Minesto’s CTO Bernt Erik Westre explained details of the kite systems and the unique principal for the engaged audience, followed by a presentation at the 7th Hybrid Power Plant & System Conference the day after.

-It was truly inspiring to note the excitement around our technology and interact with the international energy sector, said Bernt Erik Westre.

-We are pleased to welcome a broad range of industry colleagues and customer prospects from around the world, as well as our dedicated Faroese stakeholders, to experience our technology and O&M site in Vestmanna. The site is a valuable asset for Minesto, said Dr Martin Edlund, CEO of Minesto.
