Almost 350 000 babies are born premature in Philippines every year. The country is number eighth in the world when it comes to the highest numbers of preterm births. Two more of the country’s 32 Milk Banks are now implementing Miris HMA™ to further secure the quality of the milk they will deliver to hospitals.

Since 2017 Miris have been working with distributor Mediwide in Malaysia and Philippines and have seen a growing interest from these regions. Now, two more Milk Banks in Philippines has joined the Miris family. The Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) Human Milk Bank and the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital (DJFMH) Human Milk Bank. With these sales Miris HMA is now implemented in more than 20% of the Milk Banks in Philippines. The deal has a total value of approximately 450 000 SEK for Miris.

“We believe in providing better clinical outcomes with high quality products like Miris HMA. Innovative products help us bring healthcare diagnosis to the next level” says Alexander Yap, Sales Director Medical Device Division at Mediwide “This is our 6th and 7th complete Human Milk Analysis solution line sold to Republic of the Philippines. We are honored to be part of the human milk bank facility upgrading project of Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, the national human milk bank reference center. Certainly, having the nutrient information of human milk available for sick and preterm infants will improve their growth. We firmly believe this will set a high bar for the rest of the milk banks in Philippines” Alexander continuous.

DJFMH was one of the pioneer Milk Banks in the country and is today the largest Milk Bank in Philippines. It is designated as the training institution on Human Milk Banking and Breastmilk Storage by the Philippine Department of Health. The UNICEF supported Milk Bank at EVRMC is a rescue and relief operations hub in a typhoon-prone region and has the potential to provide breast milk to vulnerable children in six provinces.

“We are proud to see Miris' footprint increase in one of the countries with the most premature births in the world "says Camilla Sandberg, CEO of Miris" It is of great importance that we now have an installation at DJFMH milk bank, the reference milk bank in the Philippines. We believe that this will set the standard for other milk banks in the country.” Camilla concludes.
